Now the most commonly used paper-plastic cups are a layer of paper on the outside and a layer of coated paper on the inside, which is an inner polyethylene plastic film. Although the outer layer is paper, the inner layer of plastic film is in contact with food, so it is controversial whether this cup is defined as a paper cup or a plastic cup. In terms of testing, both paper and plastic quality are tested.
Without wax, people may feel that paper-plastic cups are safe. In fact, it has the most risk factors. The hidden health problems of the outer paper are very prominent. If the outer layer contains water, mold will form, and the paper cups are stacked together. If there is mold on the outside, it will inevitably contaminate the inside. When using a paper cup, be sure to see if it becomes damp and moldy. Secondly, it is the ink printed on the outer layer, which has a strong stimulating smell, generally the smell of the ink, and the taste is probably not up to standard. Many ink components contain benzene and toluene, benzene is a recognized carcinogen. Countries such as the United States and Japan are using non-benzene inks, and my country still uses benzene-containing inks.
Some paper cups may be made from waste paper. In order to make the paper cups look whiter, manufacturers will use bleach during production. Some manufacturers may also use phosphors to increase whiteness. According to national regulations, the use of phosphors in food paper is not allowed. Therefore, the whiter the paper cup, the less safe it is. The plastic film on the inside, if it is a food-grade plastic, meets the national requirements. If industrial plastic is used, in order to increase the toughness and rigidity of the cup, the paper cup will add a plasticizer. If the dosage is too large or illegal plasticizers are used, the hygienic condition is difficult to guarantee.
