The primitive celadon cups appeared from the Warring States period to the Han dynasty. Among them, the cups with the oval shape, shallow belly, and flat ears along the long edge are the most representative. Sui Dynasty cups are mostly straight-mouthed, glazed cups with cake bottoms. The three-colored glazed pottery cups and the patterned pottery cups of the Tang Dynasty were the most distinctive. At the time, popular drinking sets combining plates and small cups were also popular. During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the cups were straight mouth, shallow abdomen, circled feet or high feet, and the high soles were trumpet-shaped. 

Song Cup mostly wins with glaze colors, such as Longquan kiln and Guan, Ge, Ru and Jun kilns. Among them, the black decoration under the glaze of Cizhou kiln is quite distinctive. The fetal bones of the Yuan Cup are heavy, and the inner part of the cup is often decorated with small flowers and plants. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the cups are the most delicate, the tires are thin and light, the glaze is warm, the colors are colorful, and the types are diverse. In the Ming Dynasty, there were the famous Yongle Cup, the Chenghua Doucao Cup, the Rooster Cup, and so on. In the early and middle stages, the Cup was often seen. The cups of the Qing Dynasty have straight mouths, deep abdomen, handles with or without handles, and lids with or without covers. The decoration techniques are rich and varied, including blue and white, multicolored, pastel and various monochrome glazes.
